Solar Panel Installation - Sanyo Hit H Series with SMA Sunnyboy 3300 4kw System
The installation was commissioned on 27-09-2011. In the original quotation, three days were allowed for the installation, but on the afternoon of the second day the job was complete. This included a new Electricity Distribution Box because the one in place dated from the house build in 1968 and so had no RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker). A RCCB is essential to a Solar PV Panel installation and the new Distribution Panel had two in all, as required by the present Regulation. The heavy Inverter (Sunny Boy 3300 Series, 44 kilograms in all) was mounted on the wall in the roof space with a claimed efficiency of 97% and a 10 year guarentee. The panels(Sanyo HIT series 250) themselves were mounted on a SSE facing roof in a single rectangular block. Each panel is made from monocrystalline silicon wafers with a claimed conversion efficiency of over 20% and are wired as two groups of eight each, in series to the Inverter (opposite to a Power Supply-converts DC to AC).
So far we have had just one week to assess performance of the system. In that time some 101 units of Electricity have been generated (translates to a payment of some £43 from the Feed In Tariff). The reduction of Electricity units used from the Grid has amounted to some 23% based on a previous annual usage. It has to be said that last week, despite being after the September Equinox, was a particularly good one weather-wise to yield such encouraging figures. The energy production needs to be about 9.5 units per day to meet the annual energy production on the quotation. One swallow does not make a Summer but we are encouraged by last weeks figures.
An annual 10% indexed linked return on Capital over a period of twenty five years looks a realistic possibility on present results, which is a cautious reason for satisfaction.
